I told my mom that I needed the tapes for an art project for a class I was taking.

I decided that I would attempt to transcribe and translate the tapes for Jen Hofer’s ‘Poetics of Translation’ course in graduate school, with what large and little I knew about Ilokano.

I can fluently understand and directly translate words spoken in Ilokano.

However, I cannot read or write in the language.
